Jazz
bassist Brandi Disterheft
will stamp her name
all over the next decade.
She’s already
jammed her CV with concerts
at the Vienna Jazz Festival,
Mary Lou Williams Jazz
Festival, Chicago’s
Ravinia Jazz Festival,
Montreal International
Jazz Festival, and Carnegie
Hall.
Releasing
her new album simply
titled DEBUT, fiery,
young bassist Brandi
Disterheft performs
swinging originals with
influences from Mingus
to Bjork, combining
touches of lush atmospheres
with lively grooves.
A suite of nine original
songs, Debut has received
a Juno nomination.
A native
of North Vancouver,
this “up and coming
artist” whose
career began performing
in her teens with her
mother, jazz pianist
Fran Jare, has since
studied with jazz legends
Neils Henning Orsted
Pederson, Rufus Reid,
James Moody and Danilo
Perez.
Opening
for top acts including
Diana Krall, Pharoah
Saunders, and Nicholas
Payton, and performing
as a featured soloist
with the Canada Pops
Orchestra at age 21,
Brandi has earned both
critical acclaim and
the title “Rising
Star” for her
charismatic performances.

Following
the success of her 2007
National Tour, Brandi
